Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass October 3 of 1962 in Athens to David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and Vassiliki Papadimitriou as who was a contestant in the 1957 Miss Greece beauty pageant (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou). He is the younger brother of Athena who is drummer. When Lee was approximately two years[4of age, his father moved the family back to United States, settling in California.Lee received his first drum sticks when he turned four years old. He received his first professional drum set when he was a teenager. Lee dropped out of high school to pursue a career in music which began with Suite 19, a L.A.-based club band. He was a fan of Van Halen, Led Zeppelin and Cheap Trick when he was a teenager. His primary drumming influences include John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge, Alex Van Halen and Terry Bozzio
